Mission Statement
The Mission of San Francisco Theological Seminary is to “Welcome, educate, and empower a diverse community of learners for lives of meaning, impact, and joy through spiritual and ethical leadership.” It does so by means of
- Three degree programs, the Master of Arts in Theological Studies; the Master of Divinity; and the Doctor of Ministry degrees;
- One diploma and three certificate programs, the Diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction; the Certificate in Spiritual Direction and Formation; the Certificate in Trauma and Spiritual Care; and the Certificate in Theological Studies.
- Participation in the GTU’s MA and PhD programs.

San Francisco Theological Seminary (SFTS) prepares students for deep theological engagement, transformational impact, and active leadership in public life. It is the flagship school at the University of Redlands Graduate School of Theology (GST), with a shared commitment to core values and academic excellence. Together we are committed to social justice, spirituality, and innovation—nurturing more equitable and inclusive ministries to create inspired and united communities.

San Francisco Theological Seminary is accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) and the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) to offer the following degree programs:
